Little Language Links
Little Language Links is the program for young children. We currently offer Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin) classes.
The Parent/Child class is very play-based. We introduce the language to your child through fun songs, games and activities in which your child is actively engaged the whole time. We use an immersion-based approach to learning where your child is easily immersed in the language without feeling lost. Parents are both learners and coaches in the class as they interact with their child in the language and assist their children when necessary. There are lots of hands-on activities intermixed with storytelling and cultural experiences as well. Take-home papers are given with each lesson to extend the learning at home.
The Beginner classes cover similar content as the Parent/Child class, but incorporate more role-playing, writing and other skills that children slightly older can manage. These classes also use an immersion-based approach and include hands-on activities, game, storytelling and cultural enrichment while incorporating state standards for foreign language education. Take-home papers are given so that parents can practice with their children at home.
The Level II class is for students who have had prior foreign language education. Students will be taught grammar structures and more advanced conversation skills while still enjoying games and fun activities. While we never become completely removed from the basics of colors, numbers, etc., it will be assumed that the child already knows them.
All Spanish classes are taught by Jennifer Jupp, owner of Language Ready Learning Co. Jennifer is a certified Spanish teacher with over 10 years teaching experience and three young children of her own.
All Chinese classes are taught by Na Li, a native speaker with teaching experience in several countries. Na is also pursuing an education degree from OSU. (photo coming soon)
